The Nashville Public Library Foundation (NPLF) received a $248,225 project grant award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) under the National Leadership Grants (NLG) program. NPLF will use the funding to increase capacity for its existing interactive Library Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (LSDHH) website by improving access to library resources for deaf and hard of hearing communities in the United States. Specifically, the LSDHH website will provide families and communities with information and resources to address relevant needs such as literacy and employment. The project will also create a platform for states to provide awareness of and access to resources available in their communities. The period of performance is September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2022.

Nashville public library's library services for the deaf and hard of hearing (LSDHH) program will increase capacity for the existing, interactive LSDHH website by improving access to library resources for the deaf and hard of hearing communities in the united states. Because deaf children are graduating at a fourth grade reading level, are abused at a shocking rate, and are unemployed at disturbing rates, LSDHH's website will provide families and communities with information and resources to address relevant community needs like literacy and employment. The project will provide the platform for states to provide access and bring awareness to the resources available in their communities.
