The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded The Night Ministry $153,956 under the Continuum of Care Program on February 1, 2026. The Night Ministry, a Chicago-based nonprofit, delivers street outreach, interim housing, rapid rehousing, permanent supportive housing, and emergency shelter services to homeless individuals and families in Chicago, Illinois. The award funds eligible costs to establish and operate CoC projects across five program components: permanent housing (including permanent supportive housing for persons with disabilities and rapid rehousing), transitional housing, supportive services only, homeless management information systems, and in some cases homelessness prevention. Activities supported include CoC planning, acquisition and rehabilitation of real property for housing or supportive services, and new construction. The performance period runs through January 31, 2027. The Continuum of Care Program promotes community-wide commitment to ending homelessness by funding nonprofit providers, states, and local governments to quickly house homeless individuals and families while minimizing trauma and dislocation, promoting access to mainstream programs, and optimizing self-sufficiency.
