The University of Utah received a $1,499,903 Project Grant award from the Defense Health Agency under the Military Medical Research and Development program (CFDA 12.420) to develop a "HIGH-PERFORMANCE POWERED ANKLE/FOOT PROSTHESIS FOR BELOW-KNEE AMPUTEES". The award has a performance period from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2028. As part of this grant, the University of Utah is collaborating with a subrecipient, Otto Bock Healthcare LP, a prosthetics manufacturer, to design and produce the advanced prosthetic ankle/foot system. The Military Medical Research and Development program supports a range of biomedical research initiatives to improve health outcomes for military service members, veterans, and the broader public. This grant leverages the University of Utah's expertise in medical research and the specialized prosthetics capabilities of Otto Bock Healthcare to develop an innovative powered ankle/foot prosthesis that can enhance mobility and quality of life for below-knee amputees.
