The Shoshone-Paiute Tribes received a $749,919 Project Grant award from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program. The five-year grant program aims to engage the whole community of the Duck Valley Indian Reservation in Idaho and Nevada in healing from the opioid crisis. Key activities include conducting listening sessions with students, tribal leadership, traditional healers, and community mental health responders to better understand the scope of the problem and community needs. The Tribes propose to implement a full spectrum of trauma-informed treatment, recovery support, and prevention services, targeting treatment for 85 individuals, recovery support for 30, and prevention services for 800 community members over the grant period.
