The Detroit Recovery Project (DRP) has been awarded a $600,000 Project Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program. The three-year grant, commencing on September 30, 2024, will enable DRP to expand and enhance its Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) initiative to provide recovery support services for individuals affected by substance use disorder (SUD) and co-occurring disorders (COD), including youth and young adults ages 12 and older in Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan.

The key goals of this project are to: 1) Provide multi-generational peer recovery support and co-occurring disorder support for 50 youth/young adults and 350 adults; 2) Deliver comprehensive, culturally appropriate, trauma-informed peer recovery support services; 3) Increase the number of certified peer recovery support mentors; and 4) Decrease stigma around SUD/COD treatment and recovery through education, access, and outreach. DRP plans to serve 100 individuals in the first year and 150 in each subsequent year, for a total of 400 participants over the three-year grant period.
