Description

Expanding PRN's peer & recovery TAC and piloting the first recovery cafe: PRN will pilot the states first recovery cafe & expand its statewide TAC via SUD recovery/harm reduction tract. - leveraging the 17-year history as a NC peer-run organization, promise resource network (PRN) will pilot the state's first recovery cafe, while expanding its statewide reach as a peer and recovery technical assistance center (TAC). This will be achieved with an SUD recovery and harm reduction tract for its peer and recovery TAC, while building capacity to launch and then replicate a recovery cafe. North carolina's peer workforce demographics: PRN's peer & recovery technical assistance center (TAC) project and the piloting of a recovery cafe addresses the need to develop alternatives to traditional substance use treatment and bridge the substantial GAP in piloting and offering innovative service models for SUD and MH recovery needs in NC. The project also focuses on maintaining and increasing peer workforce capacity through the addition of SUD recovery and harm reduction tract to the peer & technical assistance TAC. PRN anticipates serving 500 individuals over the course of the 3-year project (100 in year 1, 150 in year 2, and 250 in year 3.) demographic area data (source: 2022 nccpss data peer demographics) gender 1,428 male, 2,584 female primary diagnostic category 1,184 mental health, 1,467 substance use disorder, 735 CO-occurring education 353 GED, 658 H.S. Diploma, 523 associates, 1200 some college, 861 bachelor's, 379 master's, 28 PHD. Employment status 1,636 employed as cpss, 822 seeking employment, 107 volunteer, 387 students, 785 employed in other field, 495 employed in related field veteran status 314 male, 119 female strategies/interventions: PRN currently offers 17 evidence-based and promising peer-led and peer-focused programs. The agency has also successfully incubated and established innovative peer and recovery practices, such as the proposed recovery cafe. Project goals and measurable objectives: PRN's proposed project goals and objectives center around three identified needs: (1) strategic and unified PSS training, certification, and workforce standards, and (2) enhanced infrastructure , and (3) the need for innovative alternatives to traditional SUD treatment. These needs will be addressed by achieving the following goals: 1. By year 3 of the project, recovery support services (RSS) in NC will be enhanced and expanded by the launch of the state's only recovery CFE, which can serve as a pilot project for implementing the model in other communities across the state. 2. By year 3 of the project there will be increased promotion and education about recovery using evidence-based & promising peer-delivered practices as evidenced by establishment of PRN's peer and recovery training & technical assistance (TTA) team. 3. By year 3 of the project there will be enhanced knowledge, skills & abilities related to recovery & peer support, and peer engagement/empowerment as evidenced by development of the peer & recovery training & technical assistance center.
