The muskegon medication assisted treatment program (MCMATP) provides holistic treatment for patients enrolled in the program, including primary care; a variety of evidence-based therapy services; food and drug administration-approved medications for treating OUD (suboxone, sublocade and VIVITROL); and peer support. Muskegon family care will achieve the following goals and objectives through the MCMATP: - increase the capacity of the muskegon family care mat team by hiring three additional clinical staff: substance use case manager, substance use therapist, and recovery coach. - identify patients eligible for MCMATP services through comprehensive, standardized, culturally competent screening. - increase the number of mat patients served from to 75 patients during the first year of the grant period and 100 annually thereafter, totaling 475 patients over the grant period. - reduce opioid use among MCMATP patients. The MCMATP outcomes will be achieved through a comprehensive mat implementation strategy. Muskegon family care will implement the MCMATP utilizing evidence-based best practices for providing mat, offering buprenorphine (suboxone and sublocade) and injectable naltrexone (VIVITROL) to patients experiencing OUD and assessed as appropriate candidates for mat services. In addition to pharmacological intervention, MCMATP patients will also receive recovery support services such as group and individual therapy and the support of a substance use case manager and recovery coach. Muskegon family care will offer process-oriented and stage of change group therapy options to all patients receiving mat. Individual therapy will utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, and trauma therapy. In addition to these core recovery support services, MFC will provide regular physical examinations, blood work, drug screening, and communicable disease testing. All MFC patients have access to telehealth appointments and consultation, when possible. The MCMATP will offer a comprehensive suite of services to empower patients to achieve full recovery from substance use with the multi-faceted, evidence-based support provided by the MCMATP care team.
