The Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Services (DBHDS) in the Commonwealth of Virginia has received a $5,000,000 federal Project Grant award under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

The grant funding will support DBHDS's Strategic Prevention Framework - Partnerships for Success for States (SPF-PFS-States) initiative. This will enable DBHDS to partner with 7 Community Service Board (CSB) partners across Virginia to provide each CSB with $150,049 to hire a dedicated staff member for their local community coalition. The coalitions will then utilize the Strategic Prevention Framework to develop and implement evidence-based strategies targeting substance misuse and mental health wellness in their respective localities and regions. Evaluation plans will be used to monitor progress towards desired outcomes for the targeted populations.
