This is a Project Grant awarded by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) under the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Projects of Regional and National Significance (CFDA 93.243) program. The $120,000 grant was awarded on September 30, 2024 to NAMI of Missouri, a non-profit mental health advocacy organization.
The grant will fund NAMI of Missouri's 3-year "Family Support and Leadership Project" to benefit parents and caregivers of children and youth with serious emotional disturbance (SED) and/or co-occurring disorders (COD) in Missouri. Key project goals include strengthening parent/caregiver leadership, teaching advocacy skills, improving access to evidence-based practices, enhancing family support provider training, and expanding the statewide family/caregiver network. Specific measurable objectives include training 10 parents/caregivers in policy leadership, developing 5 new family support providers, providing continuing education to 30 family support providers, and reaching over 8,000 Missourians annually through various outreach and educational activities.
