Description

Firelands regional medical center's community mental health centers grant program - project name: chmc grant: restoration of services services utilization has dramatically decreased due to fear of covid-19. Firelands saw a 17% reduction in the numbers of persons served and a 27% reduction (or 55,000 visits less) from CY2019 to CY2020. Firelands will utilize grant funds to restore services to pre-covid-19 volumes. Firelands proposes to service 400 individuals (200 per year) with serious emotional disturbance (SED), serious mental illness (SMI), and those with CO-occurring disorder (COD) - mental health and substance use disorders. The project will include all required activities; specifically: - increased utilization of behavioral health services through bolstering of tele-health infrastructure and marketing and educational efforts designed to increase public awareness (especially for vulnerable populations). - implement tele-crisis services and recovery support services (case management) in 6 jails within the service region. - provide case management outreach to 500 incarcerated individuals. - increase utilization of evidence-based practices through the provision of training to licensed therapists and to case managers RE: trauma-informed care, suicide-risk screening training, and use of contingency management. - adding evidence-based suicide risk screening to the electronic health record. - implement strategies to target the mental health of employees including the development of an employee moral committee providing training on burnout/self-care to staff. The project also proposes to provide the following allowable activities: - crisis and emergency response: increased staffing at our 24-hour hotline to support the provision of tele-crisis services after business hours. - crisis coordination: an additional FTE will be hired to focus on promotion of tele-crisis services as well as coordination of intra and inter-system planning. - vulnerable populations: marketing efforts will include the use of billboards placed in strategic locations, social medias, and in-services provided to shelters, group homes, etc. - prison/jail services: as previously described.
