HLCSB SERVES AN EXTREMELY AT-RISK AND HIGH NEED POPULATION OF STUDENTS, LIVING IN AN URBAN CENTER THAT IS OVERWHELMED BY HIGH RATES OF CRIME, POVERTY, AND VIOLENCE. TO CREATE A SAFETY NET FOR YOUTH IN THIS HIGH-RISK COMMUNITY, HLCSB WILL DELIVER YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID TRAINING, AT MINIMUM, TO THE FOLLOWING UNDUPLICATED GROUPS EACH YEAR: EDUCATORS, PARENTS, STUDENTS OVER THE AGE OF 16, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT STAFF, AND FIRST RESPONDERS. TRAININGS WILL BE HELD IN HLCSB FACILITIES AND NEIGHBORHOOD COMMUNITY CENTERS, WHICH ARE CENTRALLY LOCATED, ADA-COMPLIANT, EASILY ACCESSIBLE, AND EQUIPPED FOR TRAININGS WITH CLASSROOMS, PRESENTATION EQUIPMENT, AND INTERNET SERVICES.
