GEMINUS CORPORATION'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRAINING (MHAT) INITIATIVE - GEMINUS CORPORATION'S MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS TRAINING (MHAT) INITIATIVE IS A COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR RAISING MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IN SECTORS WITH THE HIGHEST PREVALENCE OF TRAINING NEEDS WHICH ARE: SCHOOL, LAW ENFORCEMENT, VETERANS' SERVICES, AND SOCIAL SERVICES. THIS INITIATIVE WILL TAKE PLACE IN LAKE COUNTY, THE SECOND LARGEST COUNTY IN INDIANA WITH A POPULATION OF 485,493. OVER THE 5 YEAR INITIATIVE, 7,125 PEOPLE WILL BE TRAINED IN THE FOLLOWING EVIDENCE-BASED MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS PROGRAMS: MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID, YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID, QUESTION. PERSUADE, REFER (QPR) GATEKEEPER TRAINING, AND CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM PROGRAM. THE INITIATIVE WILL BE WORKING TO ACHIEVE THE FOLLOWING GOALS AND OBJECTIVES: GOAL 1: REDUCE THE NUMBER OF LAKE COUNTY YOUTH THAT DIE BY SUICIDE. 1: DECREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF 8TH GRANT STUDENTS THAT SERIOUSLY CONSIDER ATTEMPTING SUICIDE. 2: TRAIN 3,750 EDUCATORS IN THE QPR GATEKEEPER CURRICULUM. 3: TRAIN 150 EDUCATORS IN THE YOUTH MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CURRICULUM. GOAL 2: REDUCE THE NUMBER OF LAKE COUNTY ADULTS THAT ARE EXPERIENCING FREQUENT MENTAL DISTRESS. 4: DECREASE THE PERCENTAGE OF ADULTS THAT REPORTED HAVING FAIR OR POOR MENTAL HEATH. 5: TRAIN 925 LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE QPR GATEKEEPER CURRICULUM. 6: TRAIN 100 LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CURRICULUM. 7: TRAIN 1,350 SOCIAL SERVICE PERSONNEL IN THE QPR GATEKEEPER CURRICULUM. 8: TRAIN 150 SOCIAL SERVICE PERSONNEL IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CURRICULUM. 9: TRAIN 225 VETERANS AND/OR VETERAN ALLIES IN THE QPR GATEKEEPER CURRICULUM. 10: TRAIN 75 VETERANS AND/OR VETERAN ALLIES IN THE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID CURRICULUM. 11: TRAIN 325 COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN THE QPR GATEKEEPER CURRICULUM. GOAL 3: ENHANCE AND SUSTAIN MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS ACROSS LAKE COUNTY. 12: CREATE AN 8-PERSON CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM COMMITTEE. 13: TRAIN 75 LAW ENFORCEMENT PERSONNEL IN THE CRISIS INTERVENTION TEAM CURRICULUM. 14: TRAIN 25 INDIVIDUALS TO BE QPR TRAINING FACILITATORS. 15: TRAIN 6 INDIVIDUALS TO BE MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID FACILITATORS. 16: CREATE A MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES, SERVICES, AND REFERRAL PACKET. 17: HAVE 18,000 LAKE COUNTY RESIDENTS REFERRED TO MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES OR SERVICES. GEMINUS CORPORATION WILL CONTINUE TO WORK COLLABORATIVE THROUGHOUT LAKE COUNTY TO PREPARE AND TRAIN OTHERS ON HOW TO APPROPRIATELY AND SAFELY RESPOND TO INDIVIDUALS WITH MENTAL DISORDERS, PARTICULARLY INDIVIDUALS WITH SERIOUS MENTAL ILLNESS AND/OR SERIOUS EMOTIONAL DISTRESS.
