Currently, 988 calls from Inyo and Mono Counties—a 13,277-square-mile rural and frontier region with no crisis stabilization unit, no inpatient psychiatric beds, and severe broadband gaps—route 275–355 miles away to centers unfamiliar with local tribal resources, reservation geography, and tribal sovereignty protocols. The project serves approximately 3,950 enrolled members and descendants of seven federally recognized tribes (Big Pine Paiute, Bishop Paiute, Bridgeport Indian Colony, Fort Independence, Lone Pine Paiute-Shoshone, Utu Utu Gwaitu Paiute, and Timbisha Shoshone), along with other American Indian and Alaska Native individuals eligible for Toiyabe services spanning all ages. Work is performed in Bishop, California. The period of performance runs from September 30, 2026, through September 29, 2029.
