Drake University received a $222,220 Project Grant award from the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) under the Rehabilitation Long-Term Training program (CFDA 84.129), effective October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. This grant supports academic training initiatives designed to prepare rehabilitation counselors and other specialized personnel to work with individuals with disabilities within the state-federal vocational rehabilitation system. The award addresses identified personnel shortages in the rehabilitation services field.
Under this grant, Drake University will deliver comprehensive training programming with the requirement that at least 65 percent of project funds ($144,443 minimum) be directed toward scholarships covering student stipends, tuition, fees, books, supplies, and travel for enrolled students. The university will develop and implement curriculum and academic services tailored to prepare qualified professionals for the vocational rehabilitation workforce, consistent with the program's focus on increasing the supply of trained personnel in this critical service area.
