Description
The tribe planted approximately 23 acres of shoreline to enhance large wood debris recruitment and provide shade for the river. The chehalis tribe will use the grant funds to pay tribal staff to maintain recent plantings and replant small areas where DIE off has occurred. Restoring riparian vegetation will reduce instream temperatures and eventually contribute large wood debris to enhance salmonid habitat. Restoring habitat for salmonids and other aquatic species will benefit the tribal community and the sport fishing community in the watershed. Deliverables will include an annual progress report.
