Description

The ANS task force serves to develop and implement a program for waters of the united states to prevent the introduction and dispersal of ANS, monitor, control, and study such species and disseminate related information. The western regional panel on ANS (WRP), one of 6 regional panels of the ANS task force, helps identify and address large-scale regional AIS management needs across 19 western states of the US. The WRP has an active membership representing state, federal, tribal, academic, non-profit organization, and business entities with shared interest in western AIS management issues. The broad landscape footprint and large membership participation of the WRP requires strong strategic communication to effectively address AIS across the west and work responsively with the ANS task force. This project, coordination of the western regional panel on ANS, will bring consistent and long-term coordination to provide institutional knowledge, maintain and share the best available AIS management information and advance new AIS management needs. The goal of this project is to provide high-quality coordination to ensure that the daily functioning and annual objectives are fulfilled. The coordination of the WRP is the primary need fulfilled by this opportunity. The WRP leadership and membership is an all-volunteer body, with conservation collaborations providing quality coordination of follow-through and consistency where and when IT is needed most. Specific objectives include a. Provide consistent and accurate information about the WRP activities and business, and b. Conduct WRP business activities as directed by the WRP leadership. The intended beneficiaries of the implementation of coordination and communication of the western regional panel on ANS are western natural resource managers, and the public with subsequent improved management of natural aquatic resources across the western united states from aquatic invasive species.
