RESTORATION AND ENHACEMENT WORK WILL BE CARRIED OUT ON 942.4 HECTARES 2,327.72 ACRES OF MANGROVE HABITAT IN THE NORTHERN COAST OF THE YUCATAN STATE, MXICO (FIGURE 1), RELEVANT REGIONS AS RAMSAR AND AICAS IBAS SITES, AND ACCORDING TO CONABIO, IMPORTANT MANGROVE SITES WITH ECOLOGICAL RELEVANCE AND ECOLOGICAL REHABILITATION NEEDS (CONABIO, 2009) IN THE YUCATN PENINSULA, MEXICO. THE RESTORATION AND ENHACEMENT ACTIONS WILL LAST OVER TIME AS ALL OF IT ARE WITHIN STATE AND NATIONAL PROTECTED NATURAL AREAS, IN ADDITION TO HAVING THE ENDORSEMENT OF INSTITUTIONAL AGREEMENTS. THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING ACTIONS, THE HYDROLOGICAL FLOWS AND THE TOPOGRAPHIC LEVEL OF THE IMPACTED MANGROVE AREAS WILL RETRIEVE. WITH THIS, WE ENSURE THE SURVIVAL OF AT LEAST 140 MIGRATORY SPECIES THAT USE THIS ENVIRONMENT DIRECTLY. ALSO, THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON STRENGTHENING LOCAL CAPACITIES OF PEOPLE USING THE MANGROVE AS A LIVELIHOODS, THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION AND AWARENESS WITH DIRECT AND INDIRECT BENEFITS TO BIODIVERSITY AND COASTAL HABITATS. ALSO, THE SUCCESS OF THE RESTORATION ACTIONS WILL BE DETERMINED THROUGH BIOLOGICAL AND PHYSICOCHEMICAL MONITORING, EVALUATING THE BIRD POPULATIONS AND MANGROVE RECOVERY AND THE CAPACITY TO MAINTAIN NORTH AMERICAN MIGRATORY BIRDS.
