SPALDINGS CATCHFLY RECOVERY DEPENDS ON THE CREATION AUGMENTATION OF LARGE POPULATIONS THROUGHOUT ITS RANGE. THIS PROJECT WILL CONTINUE EFFORTS AT THE PARADISE RIDGEG ORMSEN BUTTE KEY CONSERVATION AREA (PARADISE KCA) IN THE PALOUSE GRASSLANDS PHYSIOGRACHIC REGION WHERE SIGNIFICANT STRIDES HAVE BEEN MADE TO ACHIEVE THE RECOVER GOAL OF ESTABLISHING OVER 500 INDIVIDUAL SPALDINGS CATCHFLY PLANTS. BEST METHODS DEVELOPED BY THE LATAH SOIL AND WATER CONSERVATION DISTRICT (LATCH SWCD) DURING PREVIOUS PLANTING AND MONITORING EFFORTS ARE BEING USED TO FULLY ESTABLISH A POPULATION AT THE PARADISE KCA AND FOR CREATING OR AUGMENTING OTHER POPULATIONS RANGEWIDE. THIS PROJECT WILL FOCUS ON THE FOLLOWING: 1.) MONITOR PLANTED/SEEDED LOCATIONS ANNUALLY, 2.) PLANT SPALDINGS CATCHFLY IN SUITABLE SITES TO ACHIEVE THE 500+ GOAL, 3.) CONTROL WEEDS AND RESEED WITH NATIVE SPECIES TO PREVENT WEED INVASIONS AND TO PROMOTE SUCCESSFUL SPALDINGS CATCHFLY ESTABLISHMENT, 4.)
