Description

Geneticrescue to overcome inbreeding and susceptibility to sylvatic plague will help ensure successful recoveryof the black-footed ferret. We will demonstrate new methods for genetic rescue in the domestic ferretmodel. This is important foundational research that can be transitioned to black-footed ferrets to helpincrease representation, resiliency and redundancy for this endangered species. Our high-level goal is toenable black-footed ferrets to thrive in the wild without human intervention.
