The Wyandotte Fire Department received a $504,636 Assistance to Firefighters Grant award from the Federal Emergency Management Agency on August 2, 2021 under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (CFDA 97.044). The grant funding will support the department's efforts to enhance public and firefighter safety with respect to fire and fire-related hazards through August 2, 2022. Specifically, the grant will enable the department to purchase new equipment and gear that will improve emergency response operations and protect first responders. The goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program is to provide critical funding directly to fire departments and emergency responders to equip and train emergency personnel to recognized standards, enhance operational efficiencies, and support community resilience.
