The Historical Society of Delaware was awarded a $122,390 project grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to establish Delaware History Online. Funded through IMLS's National Leadership Grants program, the project will create a suite of virtual educational resources allowing the public to learn about Delaware history from anywhere in the world. Key products include COVID Chronicles Delaware, a community-authored journal of the pandemic's impact on Delaware residents; educational video content featuring museum objects, exhibitions and tours along with accompanying lesson plans for grades 3-6; and a digitized version of the Collecting Wilmington exhibition. The Society expects 30,000 educational packet users, 28,000 video views and 600 online exhibition views by the project's October 2022 completion date. The online platform will expand access to Delaware history for students, the general public and remote learners during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
