The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) awarded Hagerstown Community College a $190,600 Project Grant (CFDA 23.002 - Appalachian Area Development) to support educational achievement and attainment programs. The grant, awarded on March 1, 2024, will fund workforce development initiatives, student support services, and access to education for low-income and disadvantaged students in Maryland. Key activities include expanding facilities and equipment for commercial truck driver and skilled trades training, as well as providing Student Support Services and Upward Bound programs for first-generation, low-income students. The grant aligns with ARC's strategic objectives to strengthen regional economies, improve education and skills, and develop local leadership capabilities across the 13-state Appalachian region.
