This $685,274 Project Grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Advocacy and Outreach under the Outreach and Assistance for Socially Disadvantaged and Veteran Farmers and Ranchers (CFDA 10.443) program. The grant will be used by the non-profit organization Friends of Zenger Farm to shift the demographics of farm ownership and operation in Oregon by providing education, training, and support to Black and Indigenous BIPOC communities in East Portland. The project aims to serve these underserved agricultural communities through an established beginning farmer training program, alumni engagement, and a farm-based youth education initiative. The grant will fund these comprehensive programs over a 3-year period from September 2024 to September 2027.
