About this award

The Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded Riverside Art Museum $649,982 on September 1, 2026, under the Museum Grants for American Latino History and Culture program (CFDA 45.033) to build institutional capacity at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture.

The museum will develop and present six exhibitions—one permanent collection exhibition, two temporary exhibitions, and three community gallery exhibits—alongside related public programming including artist panels, workshops, pre-school story time, museum tours, and hands-on art-making activities. Museum staff will create interpretive content about featured artists and curators for distribution via social media and a free museum guide mobile app. Project activities run through August 31, 2027, with performance at the museum's Riverside, California location. The grant aims to deepen audience understanding of and personal connection with the themes and artistic expressions presented in the exhibitions and programs while investing in museum staff capacity.
