THROUGH DEVELOPMENT OF STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS AND COORDINATION WITH LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS, VALLEY WATER PROPOSES TO CONDUCT TRASH RAFT AND WOODY DEBRIS REMOVAL AND COUNTYWIDE ROUTINE ENCAMPMENT CLEANUPS IN HEAVILY IMPACTED REACHES OF BERRYESSA CREEK, COYOTE CREEK, GUADALUPE CREEK, GUADALUPE RIVER, LOS GATOS CREEK, LOWER SILVER CREEK, SARATOGA CREEK, THOMPSON CREEK AND WEST BRANCH LLAGAS CREEK. ADDITIONALLY, 32 PORTABLE TOILET FACILITIES WILL BE INSTALLED AND MANAGED TO REDUCE WATER QUALITY IMPACTS IN THESE HEAVILY IMPACTED REACHES. SUCCESS WILL BE MEASURED BY THE TONNAGE OF TRASH, DEBRIS, AND HAZARDOUS POLLUTANTS REMOVED FROM THE PROJECT AREA AND THE SQUARE FOOTAGE OF BANK REHABILITATED. THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT PROVIDES FULL FEDERAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000,000.ACTIVITIES:TO IMPLEMENT THE SAN FRANCISCO ESTUARY PARTNERSHIP COMPREHENSIVE CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT PLAN (CCMP), SANTA CLARA VALLEY WATER DISTRICT'S NINE CREEK ENCAMPMENT CLEANUP AND COYOTE CREEK BANK REHABILITATION PROJECT WILL ACCOMPLISH THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: CONDUCT TRASH RAFT REMOVALS AND BANK REHABILITATION DUE TO ENCAMPMENT GENERATED IMPACTS IN A REACH OF COYOTE CREEK TO IMPROVE WATER QUALITY; AND CONDUCT COUNTYWIDE ROUTINE ENCAMPMENT CLEANUPS IN HEAVILY IMPACTED REACHES OF BERRYESSA CREEK, COYOTE CREEK, GUADALUPE CREEK, GUADALUPE RIVER, LOS GATOS CREEK, LOWER SILVER CREEK, SARATOGA CREEK, THOMPSON CREEK AND WEST BRANCH LLAGAS CREEK. ADDITIONALLY, 32 PORTABLE TOILET FACILITIES WILL BE INSTALLED AND MANAGED TO REDUCE WATER QUALITY IMPACTS IN THESE HEAVILY IMPACTED REACHES. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES INCLUDE A MINIMUM OF 200 LARGE SCALE ENCAMPMENT CLEANUPS, A MINIMUM OF 4 VOLUNTEER CLEANUPS, REHABILITATE A MINIMUM OF 4,000 SQUARE FEET OF CREEK BANK, REMOVE A MINIMUM OF 3 TRASH RAFTS, INSTALL 32 PORTABLE TOILET FACILITIES, PRODUCE QUARTERLY AND FINAL REPORTS THROUGHOUT THE GRANT LIFE CYCLE, AND REMOVE 2,000 TONS OF TRASH, DEBRIS AND HAZARDOUS POLLUTANTS THROUGH ENCAMPMENT CLEANUPS. THE INTENDED BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PROJECT ARE THE LIVING RESOURCES OF THE SAN FRANCISCO BAY AND ITS WATERSHEDS.
