This Project Grant award, provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program (CFDA 66.616), will fund a comprehensive effort to enhance climate resilience and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Grays Ferry community of Philadelphia, PA.
The $19,997,822 award supports activities implemented by the Energy Coordinating Agency of Philadelphia, Inc. (ECA) and Habitat for Humanity Philadelphia, Inc. (HFHP). Key initiatives include: 1) Whole home repairs and weatherization for 189 homes in Grays Ferry through the Built to Last program, 2) Establishment of a community resilience hub to serve as a centralized resource for climate response and daily community needs, and 3) A green careers workforce development program that will train over 50 students annually for in-demand clean energy jobs. The initiative leverages multiple federal funding sources, including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act, to comprehensively address environmental and socioeconomic challenges faced by the Grays Ferry community.
