Description

The project will replace jointed rail with continuous welded rail (CWR) to improve safety and capacity, as well as increase the load carrying capacity to the industry standard of 286,000 pounds. The project will consist of the installation of approximately 8.35 miles of CWR, 3,340 new ties, and ballast surfacing. The rehabilitation of the line will improve track speeds, increase fuel efficiency and improve delivery times. Additionally, the rehabilitation is expected to reduce the cost of maintenance while improving the safe operation of the track. Improving track speeds and improving delivery times, and reducing the amount of maintenance required that slow operations will allow for growth in operations. The expected users and beneficiaries are the rail shippers located along the line, the railroad, and the countys economic development agencies.
