The Motor Vehicles Division of Rhode Island received a $1.784 million project grant award from the Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration under the Commercial Driver's License Program Implementation Grant program (CFDA 20.232). The four-year award beginning August 1, 2021 will support Rhode Island's compliance with commercial driver's license requirements and allow the state to dedicate funding to priority activities for research, development, testing, demonstration projects, public education, and other special initiatives relating to commercial drivers. Key deliverables will include assisting Rhode Island in meeting federal standards for commercial driver licensing and ensuring commercial drivers receive proper training, testing, and oversight.
