About this award

This federal Project Grant award from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) under the Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund Grant Program (CFDA 11.038) provides $9,998,638.27 to Deepsig Inc. to integrate its OmniSig sensing software into Jabil's Open RAN operating system. The project aims to enhance the ability of Open RAN systems to perform AI/ML-enabled wideband spectrum sensing, supporting future spectrum sharing capabilities. Key activities include embedding OmniSig into AMD FPGAs used in Jabil's RUs, with Warren Design providing system and software design engineering, as well as testing. The expected outcomes include improved spectrum sharing, interference management, and security monitoring for commercial radio access network (RAN) products. This grant is part of the NTIA's $1.5 billion initiative to foster competition and innovation in the 5G supply chain through the development of open and interoperable wireless network technologies.

Description

Activities
This application seeks to develop advantages of AI enabled wideband spectrum sensing, enhance spectrum sharing, interference management, security, and monitoring. Deepsig will embed omnisig-enabled sensing capability into AMD fpgas used by jabil RUS.
Expected outcomes
The project fills a critical GAP in the application of AI/ML techniques which will improve the ability of using open RUS for spectrum sensing to support future spectrum sharing capabilities.
Intended beneficiaries
Commercial radio access network (ran) products.
Subrecipient activities
Warren design will provide system, hardware, and software design engineering and perform testing at the module, unit, and system level to ensure performance in line with system design and simulations.
