THE PROPOSED PROJECT WILL SUPPORT CLOSING THE DIGITAL EQUITY GAP AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A STATEWIDE DIGITAL EQUITY PLAN. THE PROPOSED PROJECT INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES TO SUPPORT PLAN DEVELOPMENT: 1) DEVELOPING A CORE PLANNING TEAM (CORE TEAM), WHERE AT LEAST ONE MEMBER OF THE CORE TEAM WILL ALSO SERVE ON THE BEAD PLANNING TEAM; 2) ANALYZING DATA AND DEPLOY SURVEYS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE BARRIERS FACED BY EACH COVERED POPULATION; 3) HOSTING LISTENING SESSIONS TO BETTER UNDERSTAND THE BARRIERS FACED BY EACH COVERED POPULATION, AND PROVIDING SUBGRANTS TO ORGANIZATIONS ACROSS THE STATE THAT SERVE COVERED POPULATIONS; 4) DEVELOPING A NEEDS ASSESSMENT AND ASSET INVENTORY; 5) DRAFTING A DIGITAL EQUITY PLAN AND GARNER FEEDBACK AND PUBLIC COMMENT. THE PROPOSED PROJECT WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF A ROBUST STATE DIGITAL EQUITY PLAN THAT WILL BENEFIT THE STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA AND PRINCIPALLY UNSERVED AND UNDERSERVED COVERED POPULATIONS STATEWIDE. THE RECIPIENT DOES PLAN TO SUBAWARD FUNDS FOR TWO PURPOSES. THE FIRST FOR LIVED EXPERIENCE WORKING GROUPS AND THE SECOND FOR ORGANIZATIONS TO HOST LISTENING SESSIONS.
