About this award
The Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service awarded the Utah State Board of Education $3.639 million under the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program (CFDA 10.582) for the period October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.
The program provides free fresh fruits and vegetables to elementary schools with high percentages of children eligible for free or reduced price meals through the National School Lunch Program. The goal is to introduce children to fresh produce, increase consumption of unprocessed fruits and vegetables, and encourage nutrition education in schools. State agencies select schools based on free and reduced price meal eligibility percentages, and schools must be current participants in the National School Lunch Program.
Performance occurs in Utah. The Utah State Board of Education passes funding through to participating school districts and schools, including South Sanpete County School District, Pinnacle Canyon Academy, Tooele County School District, Garfield County School District, Provo City School District, Davis School District, Box Elder County School District, Dual Immersion Academy, Ascent Academies of Utah-West Jordan, Salt Lake City Schools, Esperanza Elementary, Ogden Preparatory Academy, Monticello Academy, Davinci Academy of Science and the Arts, Freedom Academy Foundation, Jordan School District, Canyons School District, Alpine School District Foundation, Weber County School District, Ogden City Schools, Carbon School District, Guadalupe Schools, Ensign Learning Center, Leadership Learning Academy, Pacific Heritage Academy, Wallace Stegner Academy, North Sanpete School District, American Preparatory Academy–Draper, and Murray School District. Sub-recipients deliver fresh produce to eligible students during the school day.
