Description

The purpose of the north idaho highway 95 hazardous fuels project is to reduce wildfire risk to communities, infrastructure, and natural resources through coordinated hazardous fuels treatments across federal, state, and private lands. This project is designated as priority 1 high, directly aligning with the chief's objectives for active management to reduce fire severity and enhance public safety. All proposed work is strategically planned and developed to increase the pace and scale of active management and wildfire risk-reduction activities on all ownerships of idaho's forestlands. Project work will take place within and around the idaho panhandle national forests, specifically within two of idaho's forest action plan priority landscapes. Additionally, implementation will occur within the north-idaho shared stewardship priority landscape, in forested landscapes that have been designated as an emergency situation by a recent determination of the united states department of agriculture secretary.
