About this award
The U.S. Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration awarded a $1,610,000 Project Grant to the River City Community Development Corp in North Carolina under the YouthBuild program (CFDA 17.274). The 40-month grant, which commenced on February 1, 2025, will support River City's comprehensive workforce development services for underserved youth ages 16-24 who have previously dropped out of high school. Key program components include education, occupational skills training (with a focus on construction), leadership development, and employment assistance. The grant enables River City to deliver these pre-apprenticeship services and also fund community service projects involving the construction or rehabilitation of affordable housing for low-income or homeless families in the local area. River City collaborates with partners like Youthbuild Global, Inc. and the State of North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services through sub-grant awards to enhance mentoring, develop crisis response systems for homelessness, and support low-income housing initiatives.
