The California Urban Forests Council (CUFC) was awarded a $404,000 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service under the Urban and Community Forestry Program (CFDA 10.675) to support regional council management and outreach efforts from December 16, 2022 through June 30, 2024. The Urban and Community Forestry Program aims to plan for, establish, manage and protect urban forests through providing ecosystem services and social/economic benefits. Under this award, CUFC will deliver management and outreach services to support regional councils in linking trees, people and the built environment in California communities. The funding will aid CUFC's work coordinating and assisting regional councils to strategically plan for and promote urban forestry initiatives that maximize environmental and community benefits across the state.
