READING & MATH, INC. PROPOSED TO HAVE 100 AMERICORPS MEMBERS WHO WILL PROVIDE PEER SUPPORT AND RECOVERY COACHING TO INDIVIDUALS WORKING TO OVERCOME OPIOID USE DISORDER AND OTHER SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS IN CALIFORNIA, ILLINOIS, AND VIRGINIA. AT THE END OF THE FIRST PROGRAM YEAR, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SERVING 1440 PARTICIPANTS, 936 OF WHOM WILL MEET WITH THEIR MEMBER AT LEAST 3 TIMES (65%); AND 468 (50%) OF WHOM WILL DEMONSTRATE AN AVERAGE INCREASE OF THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE, SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-EFFICACY, RECOVERY CAPITAL, AND CONFIDENCE IN STAYING SUBSTANCE FREE IN THE NEXT 90 DAYS. AFTER THEIR YEAR OF SERVICE, 60 AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL PURSUE FUTURE ENGAGEMENT IN THE PUBLIC HEALTH SECTOR.
