JUMPSTART PROPOSES TO HAVE 1,219 AMERICORPS MEMBERS WHO WILL DELIVER ITS EVIDENCE-BASED EARLY EDUCATION PROGRAM TO 3,000 CHILDREN IN CALIFORNIA, GEORGIA, ILLINOIS, NEW JERSEY, NEW YORK, PENNSYLVANIA, RHODE ISLAND, AND WASHINGTON. AT THE END OF THE FIRST PROGRAM YEAR, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INCREASING THE KINDERGARTEN READINESS OF 3,000 PRESCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN FROM LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES BY IMPLEMENTING A CURRICULUM DESIGNED TO IMPROVE KEY LANGUAGE, LITERACY, AND SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL SKILLS. IN ADDITION, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL LEVERAGE 550 LEVERAGED VOLUNTEERS WHO WILL BE ENGAGED IN SERVICE PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT PRESCHOOL CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN THE SAME COMMUNITIES. THIS PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE CNCS FOCUS AREA OF EDUCATION. THE CNCS INVESTMENT OF $2,990,151 WILL BE MATCHED WITH $$3,206,934, $0 IN PUBLIC FUNDING AND $3,217,623 IN PRIVATE FUNDING.
