HEALTHY MINDS ALLIANCE WILL ENGAGE 20 FULL-TIME AMERICORPS MEMBERS WHO WILL IMPLEMENT MENTAL HEALTH GATEKEEPER TRAININGS THAT INCREASE THE ABILITY OF LAYPEOPLE TO RECOGNIZE AND APPROPRIATELY INTERVENE WITH SOMEONE IDENTIFIED AS STRUGGLING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS. AT THE END OF THE FIRST PROGRAM YEAR, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR TRAINING 2500 INDIVIDUALS WITH 2250 OF THOSE TRAINED DEMONSTRATING INCREASED KNOWLEDGE OF STRATEGIES USED TO HELP SOMEONE IDENTIFIED AS STRUGGLING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS. HEALTHY MINDS ALLIANCE WILL FOCUS ON THE CNCS FOCUS AREA OF HEALTHY FUTURES. THE CNCS INVESTMENT OF $303,840 WILL BE MATCHED WITH $554,357 OF STATE AND PRIVATE FUNDS.
