The Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Victims of Crime awarded Greater Wheeling Coalition For The Homeless, Inc. $500,000 under the Crime Victim Assistance/Discretionary Grants program (CFDA 16.582) on October 1, 2025.
The recipient will implement the Hearthside Transitional Housing Program, providing four units of non-congregate temporary housing in an agency-owned facility for families with children who have experienced victimization that either led to or was a result of experiencing homelessness. Services to victims include trauma-informed intake and assessment, victim-centered case management, transitional housing placement, individualized service planning, housing search and placement, life skills development, budgeting and financial literacy education, and assistance with accessing legal support, victim advocacy, and comprehensive behavioral health care through an established referral system.
The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2028. Work is performed in Wheeling, West Virginia. The Crime Victim Assistance/Discretionary Grants program supports the development, expansion, and strengthening of victim service programs for all victims of crime throughout the United States and its territories through competitive awards from the Crime Victims Fund.
