The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) awarded Community Violence Intervention Center Inc. (CVIC) $725,000 through the Children Exposed to Violence program (CFDA 16.818) to expand community-based support services for youth ages 5-18 exposed to violence and at-risk of or involved in juvenile delinquency in Grand Forks County, North Dakota. CVIC will partner with the North Dakota Juvenile Court and Department of Juvenile Services, Grand Forks Public Schools, the Grand Forks Human Services Zone, and the Grand Forks Police Department to directly serve an estimated 200 youth annually. The program delivers early intervention services including advocacy, therapy, safety services, crisis intervention, and access to healing and stabilization resources for youth who have experienced violence as victims, bystanders, or witnesses in home, school, or community settings. Services target young people who may not yet have interacted with the justice system to ensure immediate safety and prevent juvenile delinquency, while simultaneously providing comprehensive intervention services for youth already involved in or at risk of entering the justice system. The multi-agency partnership approach strengthens community-wide coordination to reduce juvenile violence and delinquency while addressing service gaps identified in recent years.Summary of Federal Project Grant Award
