The Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana Tribal Office $546,353 on October 1, 2025, under the Tribal Youth Program (CFDA 16.731) to enhance case management services and after-school programming for tribal youth.

The Tunica-Biloxi Tribe will establish a case management coordinator position and expand the role of the Tunica-Biloxi Youth Coordinator to deliver comprehensive services. The after-school program operates Monday through Friday at the Tunica-Biloxi Gymnasium and serves children ages 5 through 16, providing academic enrichment, social development, and cultural connection in a safe, supportive environment. Case management services address behavioral health needs, prevent juvenile delinquency, and strengthen family and community ties by helping families build and sustain stability. The Youth Coordinator will deliver after-school programming, provide direct case management, and conduct community outreach to increase youth engagement and identify children requiring additional support. Case management will function as a single point of contact linking youth and families to services available on the reservation and within the surrounding community.

Performance occurs in Marksville, Louisiana. The period of performance runs from October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2030. The Tribal Youth Program supports prevention and reduction of juvenile delinquency, services related to Tribal Youth Healing to Wellness Courts, and strengthened juvenile justice system responses for American Indian and Alaska Native youth.

The tunica-biloxi tribe seeks to enhance its capacity to provide case management services that serve as a single point of contact in a child's care, effectively linking youth and families to a wide range of available services both on the reservation and within the surrounding community. Recognizing that every child has unique needs, the tribe aims to offer individualized care and planning to help families navigate complex systems of support. A dedicated case management coordinator would streamline access to services, offering families critical support that promotes stability and well-being. As part of this effort, the tunica-biloxi youth coordinator will play a central role in working directly with tribal youth by delivering after-school programming, providing case management, and conducting community outreach to increase youth engagement. The after-school program will be open to children ages 516 and hosted at the tunica-biloxi gymnasium, monday through friday. The program is designed to offer a safe and supportive environment focused on academic enrichment, social development, and cultural connection. This initiative will also serve as a platform to identify children in need of additional support and ensure timely intervention through coordinated responses. Case management services will be designed and implemented to help families build and sustain stability, with a focus on addressing behavioral health needs, preventing juvenile delinquency, and strengthening family and community ties.
