About this award

The Northern Cheyenne Tribe (NCT) was awarded a $899,802 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance Tribal Justice Assistance Program (CFDA 16.596). The grant will be used to develop a Restorative Justice/Tribal Reentry Program to enhance rehabilitation services for incarcerated Northern Cheyenne tribal members and those reentering the community. Key activities include establishing at least three formal partnerships to increase the capacity of the tribal court, and providing culturally appropriate services such as substance abuse treatment, life skills training, parenting classes, and behavioral health support to at least 40 individuals per year. This funding aims to reduce recidivism among the adult Northern Cheyenne population by addressing critical needs and facilitating successful reintegration into the community.
