The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) awarded a $833,000 Project Grant under the Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative (CFDA 16.812) to the Progress House Association (PHA), a private non-profit organization in Washington state. Through this 3-year grant, PHA will expand treatment, recovery, and reentry services to 170 individuals with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health issues who are currently incarcerated in state correctional facilities across 4 counties. PHA plans to work with 3 sub-recipient organizations to enhance services, including expanding treatments to address criminogenic risks and needs, as well as providing specialized support for parents, pregnant women, and postpartum women. An external evaluator, Johnnie McKinley Associates, LLC, will assess the program's outcomes.
