About this award

This $900,000 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Justice's Bureau of Justice Assistance (CFDA 16.828 - Swift, Certain, and Fair Supervision Program) supports the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts (AOIC) in developing and implementing innovative Swift, Certain, and Fair (SCF) supervision strategies for emerging adult clients on probation for violent crimes and weapons charges. The goal is to reduce recidivism and improve outcomes for this population.

Key activities include hiring a program coordinator, funding the National Center for State Courts as a research partner, providing training and technical assistance, funding recovery support services, and creating an evaluation plan and final report. AOIC will work with two Illinois probation and court services departments to implement the SCF strategies. The National Center for State Courts will serve as the research and evaluation partner, while the County of McLean will implement the supervision strategies and provide wraparound services to reduce recidivism. The project period is from October 1, 2024 to September 30, 2027.
