The Dannon Project, a minority-owned, woman-owned non-profit organization, was awarded a $900,000 3-year grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative (CFDA 16.812) to expand its ACER (A Chance for Everyone) program. ACER will provide pre- and post-release services to 150 incarcerated men and women in the Birmingham/Jefferson County, Alabama area to support successful reentry through career readiness training, vocational/educational instruction, pre-apprenticeships, and subsidized/unsubsidized job placement. Key program elements include screening/assessment, mentoring, advocacy, data sharing, hybrid learning, and case management. The grant aims to achieve outcomes such as 70% job/education placement, $13.36 median wage, 60% credential attainment, and less than 20% recidivism. The Dannon Project will partner with state/local corrections agencies, community colleges, employers, and workforce boards to deliver these comprehensive reentry services.
