The Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry in Cleveland, Ohio will receive $1 million under a Project Grant award from the Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance. The grant funds the Second Chance Act Reentry Initiative program to provide reentry services to at least 450 citizens at moderate to high risk of reoffending upon release from incarceration in Cuyahoga County.
Services will be delivered by Cuyahoga County Office of Reentry and three sub-awardees. Transition specialists will conduct needs assessments and refer individuals to workforce development, education, housing, and case management assistance from partners Center for Employment Opportunities, Reach Success Education Programming, and Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry. The evidence-based, data-driven program aims to reduce recidivism and increase self-sufficiency through October 1, 2022 to March 31, 2027. Outcomes will be evaluated by Case Western Reserve University researchers.
