Project safe neighborhoods (PSN) is designed to create and foster safer communities through a sustained reduction in violent crime

The Department of Justice Office of Justice Programs Bureau of Justice Assistance awarded $174,940 under the Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) program (CFDA 16.609) to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. The funding supports the PSN strategy in the Middle District of North Carolina from October 1, 2021 through September 30, 2024.

The PSN program aims to reduce violent crime through coordination between local, state, tribal and federal law enforcement agencies and community organizations. Under this award, the North Carolina Department of Public Safety will work with these partners in the Middle District to achieve the goals of the PSN strategy, which depends on sustained cooperation across sectors to foster safer communities.

The program's effectiveness depends upon the ongoing coordination, cooperation, and partnerships of local, state, tribal, and federal law enforcement agencies and community organizations working together with the communities they serve - engaged in a unified approach coordinated by the U.S. Attorney (USA) in all 94 districts. The recipient will utilize grant funds to achieve the goals and objectives of the PSN program for the middle district of north carolina.
