The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women awarded the Attorney General, Office of the Financial Services Division, Washington State, one million dollars on April 1, 2026, under the Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders Program (CFDA 16.590) to enhance sexual assault nurse examiner and forensic nurse examiner programs across Washington. The award funds three key activities: support for efforts to enhance existing sexual assault nurse examiner and forensic nurse examiner programs statewide; creation of materials and resources to promote consistency in the delivery of medical forensic exams; and increased survivor access to medical forensic exams by enhancing regional coordination. Performance runs through March 31, 2029, with place of performance in Olympia, Washington. The program assists state, local, and tribal governments and courts to improve the criminal justice response to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking as serious violations of criminal law and to seek safety and autonomy for victims.
