The Department of Justice Office on Violence Against Women awarded the San Pasqual Band of Diegueno Mission Indians of California $499,730 under the Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders Program (CFDA 16.590) on April 1, 2026.
The award funds domestic violence investigations, training and field training for a newly hired tribal domestic violence investigator, co-location of the investigator in the tribal liaison office at One Safe Place, and interpretation and translation services. The period of performance extends through March 31, 2029, with work performed in Valley Center, California. The program assists state, local, and tribal governments and courts to improve the criminal justice response to domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking as serious violations of criminal law and to seek safety and autonomy for victims.
