About this award
The Office on Violence Against Women awarded Dallas County $499,910 on May 1, 2026, under the Grants to Encourage Arrest Policies and Enforcement of Protection Orders Program (CFDA 16.590) to support a dedicated prosecutor and victim advocate in the county's Sexual Assault Unit and to develop trauma-informed, victim-centered policies and multidisciplinary coordination across criminal justice agencies in response to sexual violence. The award runs through April 30, 2029, with performance in Dallas, Texas. The EIP (Enhancing Investigations and Prosecution of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Initiative) framework guides the county's prosecution-focused work to improve investigative and prosecutorial capacity, support victim safety and autonomy, hold offenders accountable, and strengthen community trust in the criminal justice response to sexual assault and related crimes.
Description
The enhancing investigations and prosecution of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking initiative (EIP) encourages law enforcement agencies and/or prosecutors offices to expand and improve their capacity to effectively investigate and/or prosecute domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, and in so doing, support victim safety and autonomy, hold offenders accountable, and promote agency trust within the surrounding community. This prosecution-focused project will: (1) support a prosecutor and victim advocate in the sexual assault unit; and (2) promote a collaborative, trauma-informed, and victim-centered response to sexual violence through multidisciplinary policy development, implementation, coordination, and evaluation.
