Services address adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault and non-offending family and household members within Indian Country and Alaska Native villages.
The Village of DOT Lake is headquartered in Fairbanks, Alaska, and serves approximately 190 tribal citizens in the Upper Tanana region of southeast Fairbanks. The period of performance runs from January 1, 2026, through December 31, 2028, with place of performance in Fairbanks, Alaska.
Description
IT is one of five grant programs funded within the sexual assault services program (sasp). Sasp was created by the violence against women and department of justice reauthorization act of 2005 (vawa 2005) and is the first federal funding stream dedicated solely to the provision of direct intervention and related assistance for victims of sexual assault. Overall, the purpose of sasp is to provide intervention, advocacy, accompaniment (e.g., accompanying victims to court, medical facilities, police departments), support services, and related assistance for adult, youth, and child victims of sexual assault, non-offending family and household members of victims, and those collaterally affected by the sexual assault. Tsasp supports projects to create, maintain, and expand sustainable sexual assault services provided by tribes, tribal organizations, and nonprofit tribal organizations within indian country and alaska native villages. The village of DOT lake is a federally recognized tribe located in southeast fairbanks, alaska. The mobile sexual assault response program, an agency of the DOT lake tribal government, works to address violence against indian women by supporting the rights of victims, meeting the needs of victims and enhancing the collection of evidence. With this funding, DOT lake will implement a project to provide intervention and related assistance to those victimized by sexual assault. The project will address the following areas of intervention and related assistance: 1) 24/7 hotline services providing crisis intervention and referral; 2) accompaniment and advocacy through medical, criminal justice, and social support systems; 3) crisis intervention, short-term individual/group support, direct payments, and comprehensive service coordination; 4) information and referral for victims and family/household members; and 5) community-based, clinically specific services and outreach for underserved communities. The village of DOT lake has partnered with cross road health ministries to implement the project. This is a new award.
